    About the Book

    Edit

This FEASTschrift contains a collection of short, creative works written in celebration of Stanley Ulijaszek, upon his retirement from the University of Oxford’s School of Anthropology in 2022. It includes contributions from collaborators, students, friends and colleagues across the world, who reflect on lessons learned working with Stanley on many and varied complex topics in food, nutrition and beyond.

Stanley Ulijaszek MA (Oxford), MA (Cambridge), BSc (Manchester), MSc, PhD (London) is a nutritional anthropologist whose work centres on the evolutionary basis for, and cultural diversity in, nutritional health.

He is a sought-after advisor, supervisor, collaborator and colleague. His emphasis on collaboration, collegiality, curiosity, complexity, creativity and commensality creates the conditions for innovative research and student thriving.

This collection is at once a celebration of Stanley’s legacy to date in and through people who have worked with him, a gesture of gratitude to him, and a book that offers people wanting to do similar work a few new ways to dig in.
